Let us take care of the children
For they have a long way to go.

Every summer the Institute for Early Childhood Education & Research hosts two Summer Institutes: one focused on a special topic in early childhood education in general, usually in early July; and a second of particular interest to Infant Development and Supported Child Development (IDSC) professionals, usually in late July or August.
These one- to three-week summer institutes can be taken for credit (3 credits) or for professional development purposes (non-credit). Registration for the Summer Institutes is open to early childhood professionals, teachers, and students.
The ECE summer institute (ECED 480/565 July 23-27, 2012) with Dr. Sylvia Kind engages with the Wonder of Learning exhibit as it explores the idea of art as inquiry in early childhood contexts. Through visits to the exhibit and daily artistic investigations, the course will consider ideas within the exhibit, young children’s artistic and poetic languages, issues in art and pedagogy, and the studio as a space of research.
IDSC Summer Institute (July 9-20, 2012) explores relations between cognitive development and cognitive delays to other developmental domains (i.e., language, social, motor) and provides practical intervention strategies to help children with cognitive delays reach their maximum potential. more
