Laura Teichert is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Language and Literacy Education. Her doctoral study examines how young children use digital tools, and their engagement in digital literacy practices in their family lives before, and as they transition into, kindergarten. Laura is interested in family literacy and early literacy in early childhood education and early primary education settings. Before returning to academia, Laura worked as an Early Literacy Specialist in Southwestern Ontario and has continued to teach at a private education centre here in Vancouver. Laura received her Hons.BA and M.Ed at the University of Western Ontario.
