The Canadian Association for Research in Early Childhood Education (CAREC) invites proposals for its post-CSSE conference sessions, exploring the theme “Social Justice and Anti-Oppressive Practice in Early Childhood Education and Care” from diverse theoretical and practice perspectives. Consistent with the broader Congress theme “Northern Relations”, we encourage submissions related to a broad range of topics such as anti-Black Racism, decolonization, climate action, gender diversity, and children’s rights. The post-conference is to be held via Zoom on June 4, 2021. We respectfully acknowledge that the University of Alberta campus, from which the post-conference is being hosted, is situated on Treaty 6 territory and Homeland of the Métis, a traditional gathering place for diverse Indigenous peoples including the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway / Saulteaux / Anishinaabe, Inuit, and many others whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to influence this vibrant community. There will be individual paper presentations and panels throughout the day, but workshops and digital poster presentations are welcome if the presenter(s) feels comfortable undertaking this in an online environment.

Proposals in English, French, or any Canadian Indigenous language are welcome from various disciplines. The proposed presentation can be in a workshop/interactive format or a research presentation format.

Graduate student proposals are also highly encouraged and can be in a digital poster format if desired.

Note, there is no need to pay for CSSE membership for the Post-Conference (the Post-Conference fee will be nominal).

See the Call for Proposals document for full details on how to submit your proposal.

Submission deadline: March 30, 2021
