Tell us about your experience in this program so far.
I feel very fortunate and excited to be learning alongside such passionate educators, and having access to contextual literature that is relevant and responsive to the times in which we are currently living.
Why did you decide to pursue further education in Early Childhood Education?
I strongly believe that the way we view/take up our early years practice, and the purpose of education and the role of the educator is in need of transformation. This work is vital to the sustainability of who we are, and the world we are in.
Why did you decide to pursue an education at UBC?
The master’s program description excited me, and it was offered online which aligns well with my life.
What advice would you have for new grad students and those considering pursuing education in ECE?
Dive deep, take it up a serious passion for change, for the creation of thinkers who will be responsive to the needs of each other, and the world around them- that grasp the requirement for our western/ neoliberalistic societies and cultures to de-centre the human and grasp our interrelatedness and interconnectivity.
What do you love most about the field of Early Childhood Education?
It has the potential to offer hope, change and the creation of a more livable world for all- every being across time and space.
