The Early Childhood Education Program in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia invites applications from early childhood educators with expertise in early years education (including preschool, childcare, kindergarten and primary grades) for a part-time faculty advisor position (as Sessional Lecturer) commencing in May 2020 with practicum supervision in various Lower Mainland early childhood education settings.
ECED 495 is the final sustained practicum experience for students completing a program of studies leading towards BC ECE Basic Certification. Credit weight is commensurate with the number of students supervised. Number of students is pending.
Candidates must have a recognized Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (or nearing completion of a Master’s degree ECE or related field), a minimum of 3 years of recent teaching experience in an early childhood setting, experience acting as a mentor, excellent communication skills, and a disposition toward inquiry and communicative teaching and learning. Preference will be given to those with a record of excellence in teaching in early childhood settings in British Columbia. Knowledge of current curriculum developments (e.g., BC Early Learning Framework) and early childhood pedagogical approaches is highly desirable.
The appointment is subject to enrollment and budgetary approval. Sessional appointments are governed by Part 7 of the Collective Agreement: Conditions of Appointments for Sessional Lecturers and the remuneration for this assignment will be based on the Faculty of Education Sessional Pay Scale.

This position is subject to final budgetary approval and is governed by Part 7 of UBC’s “Collective Agreement on Conditions of Appointments for Sessional Faculty Members”. If the successful candidate is not eligible for a sessional appointment, they will be offered a term appointment at an appropriate rank in accordance with Policy #42, in which case the appointment will be governed by Policy #42.
