Graduate Student Funding

There are various sources of funding available to ECED graduate students. The majority of funding opportunities are available only to full-time students; neither the program nor the university offers funding for part-time students. Students should inquire with their supervisors or prospective supervisors regarding which funding opportunities to apply to.

Below is a list of funding opportunities available to ECED graduate students that are offered by or via UBC.

Graduate Student Initiative (GSI)

GSI is distributed by Faculty of Graduate and Post-Doctoral Studies (G+PS) and is a system for funding graduate students through various mechanisms including entrance scholarships, multi-year funding packages, tuition awards and scholarship top-ups. Funding is available to both international and domestic students. Read more .

ORE-Administered Awards

There are various endowed awards available to full-time students each year including the Faculty of Education Endowed Awards, which are open to all Faculty of Education students. These awards are administered by the Office of Research in Education (ORE). Read more

International Student Tuition Award

G+PS offers International Tuition Awards to assist international graduate students with their tuition fees if they are registered full-time in research-oriented master’s programs. Read more
