Amanda Scott

Master of Education (MEd) – Online Cohort

I am from the small northern town of Smithers, British Columbia. This year, I am entering my fifth year of teaching and have a Grade 1/2 class. Throughout my years of teaching, my assignments have primarily focused on K-2. I completed my Bachelor of Education at the University of Victoria and obtained a Special Education Certificate through Queen’s University in 2021.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, crocheting, travelling, fishing, and spending time with my family and friends.

This is my first year in the online Master’s program. So far, I have had a great experience at UBC. My instructors and UBC faculty members that I have engaged with have been very helpful and supportive. I appreciate that this Master’s program is entirely online and designed for students to work full-time, as this is what drew me to apply to the UBC program.

I decided to further my education in Early Childhood Education as I am passionate about working with young children and fostering curiosity and creativity. Although I enjoy being in the classroom working with children, I am also interested in pursuing an administrative role, such as vice principal, principal, or district mentor teacher, in the future.
