Bonny Norton serves as Research Advisor of the highly innovative project called the African Storybook, which seeks to promote early literacy for African children by drawing on innovations in digital technology. The project, which is an initiative of the South African Institute for Distance Education, makes available hundreds of age-approriate African stories in open access format on a powerful interactive website: http://www.africanstorybook.org/ Existing stories can be downloaded, translated, and adapted, while new stories can be uploaded by teachers, parents, librarians, and other community members.
