Master of Education (MEd) – On campus
My name is Isioma Olunuga, and I am an international student from Nigeria. Working with children has always brought me immense joy as I admire their innocence and vibrant spirits. Over the past year as a student at UBC, my experience has been both enriching and challenging. Now in my second year, I continue to benefit from the guidance and support of my professors, course advisor, and peers. UBC has been instrumental in expanding my understanding and allowing me to explore diverse perspectives in Early Childhood Education, making this journey both rewarding and transformative.
The decision to pursue further studies in Early Childhood Education stems from my background in Geography and Early Childhood Education (BEd). Over thirteen years of teaching in Nigeria—primarily as a Grade 7 and 8 teacher—I became deeply interested in how children at this age group learn and grow. Their curiosity has always pushed me to innovate and explore new teaching methods. This passion for improving my skills and desire for continuous learning brought me to UBC’s master’s program. After thorough research, I knew UBC was the right place to advance my career and deepen my knowledge in ECE. As I continue into my second year, I look forward to gaining new insights and applying them to foster positive change in the field.
