Master of Education (MEd) – Online Cohort
Hello! I’m Joanna Wong, a Year 10 teacher who is currently teaching kindergarten. I graduated from Bachelor of Education (ELL cohort) 11 years ago and I am glad to be pursuing my graduate degree at UBC once again.
UBC offers a diverse range of programs, but the Online Cohort in the Masters of Education (ECE) program particularly aligns with my needs. It provides the flexibility to pursue my studies one course at a time, accommodating my responsibilities as a parent, classroom teacher, and graduate student. This format allows me to engage with coursework online during the academic year, while also offering the option to connect with peers on campus during the summer sessions, if desired.
My journey in education has been incredibly rewarding, and my young students inspire me every day. I am currently teaching Kindergarten but I was a Grade 2 and 3 teacher for a few years prior to moving to the youngest grade. These children’s curiosity and enthusiasm have sparked a deep desire in me to further my understanding of early childhood education. That’s why I’m excited to be enrolling in the Masters of Education (ECE) program. I’m eager to gain new insights and tools to support and nurture the growth of my students even more effectively. I am most passionate about play-based learning and Social-Emotional learning for young learners.
