Master of Education (MEd) – On Campus, 1st year
February 14, 2023
Tell us about yourself and your experience at UBC so far.
As an international student, my journey to get to the program started years ago. Having a bachelor’s in psychology but most of my experience working with young children both as a preschool teacher as well as a therapist, I kept wandering about which path to take and looked through many different programs and schools.
Why did you decide to pursue further education in ECE?
When I found the ECED program at UBC I realized it was the perfect option to specialize in the early years’ education as I have always wanted; this master’s would offer me an opportunity to further explore issues I had faced throughout my practicum and would help me develop the skills I need to become a better educator. So far, it has been a challenging and enriching experience, where I have learned and further developed ideas. I feel really supported by my advisor, as well as by the rest of my teachers and peers.
I have found a true interest in the field, and I have been encouraged to be a change agent during and after the program. I am excited about the rest of my journey in the program and about the connections I am making each day.
