Master of Education (MEd) – Online Cohort
I currently teach prekindergarten and Grade Two in rural Saskatchewan. I received my Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina and have a Post-Degree Certificate in Education: Special Education from the University of Saskatchewan. Early learning is my passion, and I have been privileged to set up the prekindergarten program at my school and build it over the past twenty years. I have used my special education degree to work as a Learning Support teacher at elementary and high school levels. I live on Treaty 4 territory which encompasses the lands of the Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Nakota, Lakota, and is the homeland of the Métis Nation.
I am married and am the proud mother of two adult children, a daughter Casey, and a son Declan. We have two dogs; a cowboy corgi named Kona, and a miniature chocolate dachshund named Dax. I spend my spare time enjoying the outdoors walking the dogs, hiking, kayaking, boating, and capturing nature with my camera.
My experience at UBC so far has been interesting. Working together in a cohort of like-minded individuals has been inspiring.
I want to further my education in an area that I am passionate about and can utilize in my prekindergarten classroom. Early childhood education is fascinating. Living in a rural community does not allow me to access university classes in person and work at the same time, so the online cohort is a perfect fit for me.
