Master of Education (MEd) – Online Cohort
I have been a proud Registered Early Childhood Educator since 2007 when I graduated from the Early Childhood Education program at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario. I acknowledge that I live, work and play on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation whose presence here reaches back to time immemorial.
I completed my Bachelors in Sociology at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, followed by further studies in Developmental Services. I have always been passionate about the field of early childhood education and ensuring that we are providing the best quality driven programs for our youngest learners. Supporting educator capacity building and reflective conversation fuels my practice. I work in the field currently as a Program Consultant in the Child Care and Early Years Sector.
Choosing to pursue my Master’s of Education at UBC was an easy decision. The program offers me the flexibility of online-distance education so I can be close to my family, continue to work a job I love while connecting with educators across the globe. For me, knowledge and education ensure that new research and methods are used to build and grow the early years sector. I hope to use the knowledge and perspectives gained in this program to continue to build my professional practice as an early childhood educator. Just as the children we are working with are learning from each experience – I hope that I too as an adult never stop seeking opportunities to gain new knowledge and information.
