Master of Education (MEd) – On Campus
I am a second-year graduate student in Master of Education (MEd) in Early Childhood Education (on-campus). I am currently a guardianship/permanency social worker with the Ministry of Children and Family Development in Surrey British Columbia. I’m also Sunday school teacher to some wonderful children in my church. These kids bring out the best of me when I’m around them. It’s a joy to plan and execute their annual summer camp and yearly Easter sleepover.
So far, my experience in UBC has been pleasant, especially with how the program is structured and the first courses my cohort were introduced to in the first semester. The lecturers understood that every student is at different places in their journey and that calmed any concerns I had. It was indeed a smooth transition to other courses. Shout out to our wonderful, supportive professors and instructors.
I decided to further my education in Early Childhood Education because I have always loved working with children and hope to own and work in daycares. I also have plans to establish orphanages in my home country Nigeria in the nearest future. In line with these future plans, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care (honours) at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford British Columbia.
