Updates to Early Childhood Educator Registry Website

Announcement from the BC ECE Registry:

The Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Registry is excited to announce the launch of new website content on February 17, 2022. The site features a new look and provides visitors with clear, easy to access information about the provincial requirements for ECE and ECE Assistant certification.

Access the BC ECE Registry website at https://www.gov.bc.ca/earlychildhoodeducator

Our application packages and forms have also been updated to clarify existing requirements; providing step-by-step instructions on how to prepare and submit an application and distinct application pathways for individuals who have completed their education inside B.C., outside B.C. (in another Canadian Province or Territory), or outside of Canada (international).

Effective February 17, 2022, the new application packages will replace the current forms on our website. If you are in the process of filling out an application, the ECE Registry will continue to receive applications that have been completed on our current forms until May 1, 2022. After that date, applicants must apply using the new forms

In addition to clarifying application requirements, the new site also includes updated and enhanced information about:

  • The legal requirements and standards (occupational competencies) that govern the practice of certified ECEs and ECE Assistants in British Columbia (B.C.).
  • How the Registry responds to and investigates complaints regarding the practice of certified ECEs and ECE Assistants.
  • How to request reconsideration (dispute) of a decision made by the ECE Registry (e.g., decision to deny an application for certification or to attach terms and conditions, suspend, or cancel a certificate).

For more information, please visit our new website on February 17, 2022.

The development of the new site and application packages was a collaborative effort. Thank you to the applicants, educators and child care organizations who participated in this endeavour.
